Lips Pre-care; Healing process and Post-care :

  • No tanning (in a tanning bed or direct sunlight) for at least 1 month before and after your procedure. Always wear sunscreen with  SPF 30+

  • No botox or filler at and around the treated areas for at least 1 month before and after your procedure.

  • Beginning 5-7 days before your visit, please use a daily, gentle lip exfoliating treatment (like a sugar scrub!) and a rich lip balm to prep your lips and help them be in the best shape for tattooing.

  • If you are prone to cold sores, herpes, or fever blisters, you will need an antiviral prescription (e.g. Acyclovir). Please ask your physician or pharmacist as they may instruct you to begin taking it 3 days before and 3 days after the procedure.

  • Avoid excessive Alcohol, Caffeine, Pre-Workouts, and Energy Drinks for 24-48 hours prior to your visit.

  • Avoid all blood thinning medications/supplements for 7-14 days prior to your visit.

**ALWAYS consult with your physician before stopping use of prescription medication.**

  • Day 1: Lips look bright, feel tight and swollen. Avoid getting your lips wet for 6 hours after your procedure. Drink water with a straw, clean your lips properly after eating. Avoid irritation from salty or spicy food.

  • Day 2 - 4: Lips start scabbing and peeling. Lips look darker and feel very dry. Keep applying healing ointment or Vaseline on your lips. Avoid touching or picking the peeling on your lips as this could lead to infection or loss of pigments.

  • Day 5 - 10: Lips are almost healed and look much lighter. Eat/drink more fruits and vegetables that contain a lot of vitamin C to boost the color.

  • 6 - 8 weeks: The pigment is now more stable and vibrant. It’s time for the first touch up.

Laser Tattoo removal Pre-care:

  • No sun exposure, tanning beds and tanning cream for 2 weeks prior to treatment. Sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater should be used when exposed to the sun for several months before and after treatment. Darker melanin or pigment from the sun may decrease the effectiveness of the laser treatment and can increase the chance of complications.

  • Aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen should be discontinued 2 weeks prior and after the treatment as those can thin the blood and cause more bleeding and bruising. (Please check with your primary care physician if prescribed for medical reasons).

  • Not currently on any photosensitizing medication. Accutane must be discontinued for at least 6 months prior to laser treatments or have written permission from the prescribing doctor.

  • Discontinue retinol or retin-A (tretinoin) and other active skincare on and around intended treatment areas a week prior to procedure.

  • Avoid excessive Smoking, Alcohol, Caffeine, Pre-Workouts, and Energy Drinks for 24-48 hours prior to your visit.

  • Shave the area to facilitate the procedure and reduce the risk of burns.

  • Stay hydrated, drink plenty of water

Laser Tattoo removal Post-care:

  • Immediately after treatment, there should be a ‘slight frosting’ on the area that is treated. Redness and swelling can occur and may last up to two hours or longer. Pinpoint bleeding may also occur for a few days.

  • Discomfort may be relieved by using cool gel packs or acetaminophen.

  • Clean the treated area at least twice a day with cold/warm water and mild soap, then pat dry. Apply a thin layer of topical antibiotics cream (e.g. Polysporin), topical steroid cream (e.g. Betamethasone dipropionate) or Hydrocortisone 1% to the treated area to decrease erythema/inflammation after cleaning the area for 5 to 7 days.

  • Avoid physical exercise, swimming, sauna, and hot tubs  for 5 to 7 days to reduce the risk of infection.

  • Avoid sun exposure to the treated areas.

  • During the healing process, the skin may form a thin layer of scab, do not rub or pick on the area. Apply Aquaphor ointment or other moisturizer 2 - 3 times a day. Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water to encourage drainage of ink to the lymphatic system.

  • After the first session, the tattoo should appear slightly faded. Pigment may darken and slough off in 7-10 days.

  • Multiple treatments may be necessary depending on the depth of the tattoo, the types and colors of ink used, and the color of skin to be treated. Tattoos that are less than a year old are challenging to remove.

  • Hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin), and hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin) are possible complications of the procedure and incidence of this occurring are higher for darker skin types.

  • Recommended time between each session is 2 months, earlier than that can increase the chance of side effects.

  • Scarring is a rare occurrence, but it is a possibility whenever the skin’s surface is disrupted. Clients with a history of keloid scarring may develop complications and we don’t recommend laser tattoo removal treatments.
